Bangladesh continue winning run with win over Nepal

Bangladesh defeated hosts Nepal by 44 runs during their round-robin league match at Kiritpur on Saturday.

Half-centuries from captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Afif Hossain helped Bangladesh put up a decent total and win.

Shanto scored 75 from 60 balls in an innings that had four boundaries and four sixes while Afif scored a fast 52 from just 28 balls with six fours and one maximum.

The two batsmen helped Bangladesh put on 156-6 after 20 overs and in the halfway mark, Nepal could have fancied their chances.

But the Bangladesh bowlers put on a solid display to have the home side at 119-9 after 20 overs.

Sumon Khan (2-21), Tanvir Islam (2-20), Soumya Sarkar (2-20), and Mahedi Hasan (2-30) all bowled well to keep the hosts at bay.

The win takes Bangladesh to three wins from three games and in second position in the table with Sri Lanka, who have the same number of points but a better net run rate.

Shooting brings a silver medal

In the 10-meter air-rifle mixed event, Bangladesh’s Abdullah Hel Baki and Sayeda Atkiya Hasan Disha won the silver medal, as India clinched gold in the final.
